Ahsoka Debuts New Promo for “Masters And Apprentices” in “Star Wars,” Which Raises a Lot Of New Questions

Ahsoka, the newest character in the “Star Wars” saga, made her debut in a new one-minute trailer titled “Masters and Apprentices.” In the trailer, Ahsoka is shown fending against Imperial Inquisitors as well as a group of renegade Force users who are neither Jedi nor Sith, while also running across Sabrine Wren and Hera Sendulla from the “Star Wars: Rebels” television series.

The plot continues Rosario Dawson’s portrayal of Ahsoka Tano’s character after Order 66 and the founding of the Empire, with the majority of the Jedi slaughtered and the remaining survivors in hiding. The ‘Rebels’ series was followed by the program, which will work as a kind of continuation of it. Other characters, like Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn, as well as Ahsoka’s old mentor Anankin Skywalker and the terrifying Sith Lord Darth Vader, will also feature.

Yoda’s remark about the Sith from “Phantom Menace” that “always two, there are Master and Apprentice” is the opening line of the “Masters and Apprentices” trailer, which was uploaded on the Star Wars YouTube account.

The following is a montage of teachers and their pupils bonding and imparting knowledge to others. Examples include Anakin and Obi-Wan’s training flashback in “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” Grogu/Baby Yoda’s lessons from Luke Skywalker in “The Book of Boba Fett” and “The Mandalorian,” and Darth Vader and the Emperor Palpatine’s plotting in “The Empire Strikes Back.”

The advertisement also showed Ahsoka utilizing her new twin white lightsabers, a symbol that she is no longer a Jedi, to fight against two malevolent renegade Force users with their own agendas who were holding orange lightsabers.

The biggest of all however was Ahsoka training the character of Sabrine Wren in Jedi arts with the latter using her fellow Rebel warrior and Jedi Knight Ezra Bridger’s lightsaber, raising the question whether she is a Force wielder or not, because in ‘Rebels’ series, Sabrine is a Mandalorian with no connection to the Force whatsoever, as she is being trained by Jedi Knight Kanun Jarus regarding how to use the Darksaber, a sacred weapon of the Mandalorian creed.

The lone Mandalorian warrior to become a Jedi Knight created and used the Darksaber, making it a holy object to the doctrine. Jedi and Mandalorians had a history of hostility because the former feared the latter’s use of the Force, which led them to develop innovative, high-tech weaponry that could withstand Jedi skills. This led to what are known as the Jedi-Mandalorian conflicts in the ‘Star conflicts’ canon, which ended in the Mandalorians losing the battle and their homeworld.

As Ahsoka and Darth Vader never really met after their meeting in “Rebels,” the trailer also begs the issue of what precisely will happen to Ezra, who disappeared into space with Grand Admiral Thrawn at the conclusion of the series.

The Disney+ debut of “Ahsoka” is scheduled for August 23, 2023.
