Anne Hathaway criticizes Hollywood, saying that “asking actors to make out was normal to test for chemistry.”

Actor Anne Hathaway, who won an Oscar, spoke about a technique she had to endure early in her film career that she now feels unpleasant and out of date. According to E! News, the Les Miserables actor said that in the 2000s, casting directors often requested that performers participate in “make out” sessions with many possible co-stars in order to gauge on-screen chemistry.

The 41-year-old actor said in an interview obtained by E! News that “it was considered normal to ask an actor to make out with other actors to test for chemistry, which is actually the worst way to do it.”

Hathaway, who is well-known for her parts in movies like The Devil Wears Prada and The Princess Diaries, expressed felt unhappy about the circumstances. “I wasn’t excited, and I wondered, ‘Is there something wrong with me?'” I thought that sounded disgusting,” she remembered.

The actress was uncomfortable, but she felt compelled to comply since she didn’t want to be called out as “difficult.” “It wasn’t a power play,” she added, going on to say that nobody was attempting to harm or humiliate her. Simply said, things were significantly different back then, and we know better today.

Hathaway is now a change advocate in the sector, having gained more experience and power.

She made sure that these kinds of techniques were abandoned as a producer on her most recent project, The Idea of You.

Based on Robinne Lee’s book, the movie centers on the relationship between 24-year-old boy band lead singer Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine) and 40-year-old Solene (played by Hathaway).

Hathaway didn’t require a kiss test to determine Galitzine’s appropriateness when casting her opposite.

“I remember laughing when Nick walked in because he was so ridiculously perfect for the part,” she said in an E! News-acquired interview.
Hathaway has denied rumors that Hayes Campbell was influenced by Harry Styles.
In a statement to E! News, she advised everyone to “chill out.” Galitzine agreed with her, highlighting the character’s uniqueness.
