Anupam Kher Declares The Kashmir Files Are “Our Internal Truth” in a BIG Statement

Veteran actor Anupam Kher stated on Thursday that telling the truth should never be an issue and referred to his film The Kashmir Files as a “internal truth.”

The actor was questioned about the unjust criticism the 2022 movie received at a session at the 2023 Jagran Film Festival (JFF) in New Delhi. “The Kashmir Files is our internal truth,” Kher said.Since there shouldn’t be any issues with stating the truth, I speak openly. The truth has (an) end. The truth cannot be interpreted.

The 68-year-old remarked that moviemakers often attempt to appeal to the crowd in order to win over viewers, which he feels is improper. “Don’t strive to win over everyone in the world. Be popular with yourself first. If you don’t like yourself, there must be a problem with you. Will others like it? is a common question we have while trying to create anything (a film). No, what matters is whether or not I enjoy it, he continued.

The Kashmir Files, a film by Vivek Agnihotri, tells the story of the 1990s flight of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley. With estimated profits of over Rs 200 crore, it became one of the greatest Hindi successes of last year, although it was also called a “propaganda” movie. In addition to Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, and Mithun Chakraborty had significant parts in the movie.

Kher, whose career has lasted over 40 years, said he dislikes the terms “veteran or legend”. The 1984 film “Saaransh” marked the debut of the National School of Drama graduate, who also appeared in “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” “Karma,” and “A Wednesday.” “I don’t compete against my peers. The Tiger Shroffs of the world are my rivals. I’m up against Varun Dhawan,” he said.

“So, please accept retirement; don’t label me a legend, veteran, or thespian since these (tags) indicate that you have put in a lot of effort. My retirement is still 30 to 40 years away,” he said.

The Nathalia Syam-directed film “Footprints on Water,” which stars Adil Hussain, served as the JFF’s opening film on Thursday.
