Barun Sobti: ‘Kohrra’ filming in Punjab was like exploring the landscape with a fresh eye

Speaking about filming in Punjab for the TV show “Kohrra,” actor Barun Sobti said it was like exploring the country with a fresh lens.

It’s a coincidence that I play a policeman in Kohrra who is preoccupied with solving a murder mystery since I like mysteries, said Barun. After the filming, I discovered that a mystery chamber was close by and I invited Sudip Sharma and Gunjit Chopra to check it out.

“For me, shooting in Punjab for Kohrra included seeing the region via a fresh perspective. To maintain the reality and rawness that resonates with the series’ plot, we made breakthroughs and filmed in many places.

The Punjabi heartland setting of the Netflix series Kohrra transports viewers on an exciting trip into the interwoven lives of dysfunctional families and the depths of a murder investigation. During the filming, the cast, which also included Suvinder Vicky, Barun Sobti, Harleen Sethi, Varun Badola, Rachel Shelley, and Manish Chaudhary, spent a lot of time touring Punjab.

On the first day of the filming, Harleen Sethi recalled finding herself in the midst of a rose garden. When asked about it, she further said, “Even though I am a Punjabi, I haven’t spent much time in Punjab. Because of this, filming in Punjab was a remarkable experience for me and will always have a particular place in my heart. The wide, verdant plains and farmlands of Punjab quickly take you into the middle of nature. Punjab is a lively state.

It was such a nice environment, I ended up staying there for hours after the shoot on the first day, she said, “I was in the center of this garden where roses were in full bloom, the sun was setting with sky totally orange with touches of blue.

There was a Gurdwara close by where we were filming, and it was so quiet there that I even had time to come after the shoot to hear the prayers.
