Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, the actors of Harry Potter, are criticised by J.K. Rowling for their support of transgender rights

The Harry Potter series author, J.K. Rowling, has stirred up controversy once again with her opinions on transgender rights. This time, she is criticising Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe, the stars of Harry Potter, for their support of the transgender community.
Rowling recently defended her divisive views on transgender issues on the social networking site X.

After one of her followers suggested that Radcliffe and Watson should publicly apologise to her, Rowling said that they and other celebrities should save their regrets for those who regret transitioning and for women who depend on venues designated for single people.
While Radcliffe and Watson have publicly supported transgender rights, they have not explicitly addressed the problem of transitioning minors. After Rowling’s 2020 article attacked transgender rights, Radcliffe wrote an essay for The Trevor Project, reaffirming his belief that transgender women should be allowed to be who they are. In the same vein, Watson assured her trans fans in a post on X that she stands in solidarity with them and that they are valued, appreciated, and loved.
Tom Felton and Harry Melling have openly disagreed with Rowling’s opinions, despite the fact that some Harry Potter actors—including Evanna Lynch, Helena Bonham Carter, and Ralph Fiennes—have publicly supported her.
Rowling is still a part of the planned HBO Harry Potter revival series, despite the turmoil that has surrounded her. The next series, which is scheduled to premiere in 2026, will take inspiration from every book in the Harry Potter series, with a major contribution from Rowling.
