Chamkila turned down the invitation, explaining to the late actress that he was not fluent in Hindi. He turned down Sridevi’s offer of language instruction, claiming he would lose Rs. 10 lakh in the process. Moreover, Sridevi indicated interest in working with Chamkila on a Punjabi movie, but that project was sadly never completed.

During the conversation, a friend of Amar Singh Chamkila called the singer a “gem of a person.” The buddy related an instance from 1986 in which Chamkila came to see his ailing mother and handed them a substantial amount of money at the time, Rs. 10,000.
