Did you know that Manisha Koirala turned down Dil Toh Pagal Hai because she was afraid of Madhuri Dixit

With Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, Manisha Koirala, who last made waves with Bhoot Returns over ten years ago, is hoping to make a strong return. In this historical drama, which Netflix will begin streaming on May 1, the actress will portray Mallikajaan. During the promotion, Manisha reflected on her career and disclosed the one choice she now regrets.

Speaking about ridiculous fears, Manisha Koirala said that she turned down the well-known Yash Chopra song Dil Toh Pagal Hai because Madhuri Dixit was the opponent.

Dil Toh Pagal Hai was rejected by Manisha Koirala; why?
Unbeknownst to most, Urmila Matondkar, Kajol, Raveena Tandon, Juhi Chawla, and Manisha Koirala were among the actresses who were first approached to play the role of Nisha, who was ultimately portrayed by Karisma Kapoor. Regretfully, Manisha was among those who felt sorrow for their choice to withdraw.

Manisha Koirala said to India Today, “I regret not doing Yash Chopra’s film earlier in my career. When Madhuri ji [Dixit] was paired against me, I became anxious. I withdrew from the undertaking.”

Manisha addressed him, saying that due of the masterful way he depicted women on screen, every performer in her generation aspired to work with him at some point. I went to Yash Ji’s office and informed him, Sir, that it is my ambition to be your lone heroine,” the woman said. I am being put up against Madhuri ji by you. Somehow, I believe I missed out [due to] my superior judgment.”

How did Madhuri Dixit and Manisha Koirala patch things up?
Manisha accepted director Raj Santoshi’s 2000 offer of Madhuri Dixit’s Lajja right away because she didn’t want to make the same error again. She said, “I believe security comes from having a strong maker and being comfortable with your own skin. My foolish fears made me realize that I didn’t want to make the same mistake again. I’m quite happy I did that. I adore Lajja so much.”

Manisha will co-star in Heeramandi with actors Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Richa Chaddha, and Sharmin Segal.
