Exclusive: Gulshan Devaiah Explains Why He “Stopped Making Clothes”: “I Had To Because…”

Gulshan Devaiah exhibits a range of emotions. The actor, who can fit into any role with ease, has been entertaining audiences with countless performances in both movies and over-the-top content for the last several years. He began his career in 2010 with Kalki Koechlin and Naseeruddin Shah in the feature film That Girl in Yellow Boots, directed by Anurag Kashyap. Since then, he has portrayed a variety of characters in films like Shaitan, Hate Story, and Hunter.

He has also appeared on Netflix in the series Dahaad and Guns & Gulaabs. But few people are aware that Gulshan was also a fantastic clothing designer. Why, therefore, the alteration?
Gulshan said in an exclusive interview with Zoom, “I have always been captivated by movies.

My dream was to work as an actor in movies. The well-known actor continued, saying, “I had to give up the fashion industry. I was really good at it, too. However, I had to force myself to wake up since I wanted to experience the movie like a tunnel. I gave up creating clothing.

Gulshan said that although he “enjoyed it,” he does sometimes “miss it.” But said, “It was my childhood dream, so I had to do it (move from fashion to films).”

Over the course of his more than ten years in the business, Gulshan Devaiah has played characters that are very different from one another. “I need variety,” the actor said matter-of-factly. I get disinterested in repetitive tasks.
The actor claims that sometimes people approach him and offer him a job that they think would be ideal for him. He replies, “But I am not interested in it.” I’m not fascinated by it. Playing pretend or becoming someone you’re not is entertaining.

The actor used his role as Karate Mani in the 2018 movie Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota as an example. He said, “How do I best give the impression in the limited time? Not knowing Karate.” That’s what draws fascination to the whole process. That takes a lot of creativity. “I use a lot of imagination in most of my work,” he remarked.
Gulshan claims that while he can’t decide which act is his favorite to date, he does have a preference for one. “I’m proud of every act I performed. However, Ghost Stories was the most difficult. It was tough both psychologically and physically. After seven days of filming, he concluded, saying, “I was exhausted.”
