Five filmmakers that are leading the VFX game and reinventing Indian cinema, from SS Rajamouli to Ayan Mukerji

The level of substance produced by Indian film has significantly improved throughout the years. Many Indian filmmakers are raising the caliber of Indian films to that of Hollywood productions, not only in terms of narrative but also in terms of technical elements like VFX. SS Rajamouli’s “Baahubali” and “RRR” left us speechless, while Ayan Mukerji’s “Brahmastra” treated us to a never-before-seen visual delight. Director Prasanth Varma has now joined this band of outlaws with an incredible vision for VFX and is set to revolutionize the game with “Hanu-Man.” Prasanth is creating a stunning tale under the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), heavily relying on visual effects.

For his “Brahmastra” trilogy, director Ayan Mukerji has primarily relied on visual effects. With Part One: Shiva, the filmmaker successfully demonstrated to everyone the marvels VFX can do when applied skillfully.

Hanu-Man actor Prasanth Varma
Prasanth Varma, a filmmaker, previously established his cinematic universe, or PVCU. ‘Hanu-Man’ is the first movie to use it, but its VFX will alter the game significantly. In truth, Prasanth’s idea for the movie is fantastical, and it will undoubtedly establish this young filmmaker as a major talent in Indian cinema.

Padmaavat’s Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is revered for the movies he delivers to theaters, even though we all know he is a legend among Bollywood directors. SLB is known for its elaborate settings, fantastic narratives, and most recently, breathtaking VFX. SLB excelled in his use of visual effects, especially in “Padmaavat,” which left many people enthralled.

SS Rajamouli (‘RRR’ and ‘Baahubali’)
Like SLB is to Bollywood, director SS Rajamouli is to South cinema. Rajamouli is a talent, a maverick whose film “RRR” won India an Oscar the previous year. Having said that, Rajamouli is also a pioneer in the way that spectacular VFX in “Baahubali” and “RRR” changed the narrative in Indian film.

KGF’s Prasanth Neel
Another filmmaker that enchanted the audience was Prasanth Neel, whose films “KGF” and “KGF 2” heavily relied on VFX. He not only used VFX excellently, but he also demonstrated how a narrative with excellent VFX execution can succeed.
