For outstanding obligations of Rs. 56 crore, BOB auctions off star Sunny Deol’s property

Has Sunny Deol, a member of the BJP and an actor, had his Mumbai house put up for electronic auction by the federal government-owned mortgage lender Bank of Baroda (BOB) because he hasn’t repaid a loan for around Rs. 56 crore plus interest on that loan?

According to the bank’s newspaper advertising, which includes both his permanent address and the one he provided to the Lok Sabha, this is the case.

According to the newspaper advertising, which has been extensively shared on social media, BOB claims that Sunny Deol’s real name is Ajay Sing Deol and that he owes the bank around Rs 55.99 in addition to interest and costs beginning on December 26, 2022, minus any money recovered to far.

It is unknown whether the actor’s name was spelled incorrectly by the bank as Ajay Singh Deol rather than Ajay Sing Deol.

According to the bank, the property being offered for sale through electronic auction has a square footage of 599.44 and is a building called Sunny Villa that is situated in Mumbai’s Juhu neighborhood.

The borrower/guarantor is identified as Sunny Deol, while the other guarantors are Sunny Sounds Pvt Ltd. and Dharmendra Singh Deol.

In accordance with the Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act of 2022, the bank is auctioning the property.

The earnest money deposit is set at around Rs 5.14 crore, while the reserve price is approximately Rs 51.43 crore.

According to BOB, the property is available for inspection on September 14, 2023, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The status of the possession is symbolic.

The bank also said that the borrowers and guarantors may redeem the securities at any time prior to the sale by paying the outstanding fees, costs, charges, and expenditures.

The Zonal Stressed Asset Recovery Branch, Ballard Estate, Mumbai, BOB, published the notice of the auction.

When IANS sought to reach Sunny Deol by phone to ask him about the BOB e-auction advertising, he wasn’t accessible.
