I was able to get notoriety in the business because to “Premalu.”

After ‘Premalu’s’ box office triumph, Akhila Bhargavan is ecstatic. The movie, which is now available for streaming onDisney+ Hotstar, has brought her attention and renewed respect from both the general public and business professionals.

“I’m overjoyed that people are adoring ‘Premalu’ and feeling a connection to my character, Karthika. I was also able to get notoriety in the business because to the movie. I received a call from Director Fazil, sir, praising my performance. Actors like Grace Antony, Vincy Aloshious, and Anna Ben also sent me messages,” the actress adds.

Taking advantage of possibilities is shown by Akhila’s path from social media celebrity to actress in the Malayalam film business. Originating from Payyanur, a town located in the northern region of Kerala, Akhila’s first goals were based on a traditional route, far from the glitter and glamor of show business, even though she dedicated her childhood and college years to dance. But fate had other plans, pulling her in the direction of a freshly discovered passion: acting.

Akhila’s abilities were first shown online before she was cast in movies. Before Instagram launched reels in 2016 or 2017, a lot of people were creating material on sites like Musical.ly and Dubsmash that was similar in nature. At this point, I made the decision to start using these applications regularly. Arya Chechi from the television series Badai Bunglow was the subject of one of my reels that went viral. My passion in acting was ignited by the opportunity to make a guest appearance on the program, according to Akhila.

Akhila tried going on a few movie auditions when she was a college student, but sadly, none of them worked out. After that, she concentrated on getting her postgraduate degree, finding employment, and getting married. Following their marriage, Akhila and her spouse began creating reels together and took pleasure in this pastime. ‘Anurag Engineering Works’ (2022) was Akhila’s first-ever acting role, which she received unexpectedly from this hobby.

Akhila describes how the chance found her: “The makers approached me and inquired about my interest in acting in the short film after watching my reels.” After that, they gave me a couple sections from the script, which I dutifully performed and sent the recordings of. Later, I had a face-to-face audition with Vineethettan, the short film’s main actor. I also got to know Girish Tatan, the director of Premalu and one of the short film’s producers, during this audition.

Her role in “Anurag Engineering Works” prepared her for “Poovan,” the 2023 film directed by Vineeth Vasudevan, who also starred in the former. Akhila continues, “The whole landscape was different in cinema, unlike short films,” as she muses on the shift from short to feature film. Every facet of film production has its own departments and personnel. I also got to perform with performers who were much more seasoned than myself.

Akhila later acted in the hit “Premalu” this year, which changed the direction of her career, and “Ayalvaashi” (2023). She acted out the scene at the tavern and a few other sequences during her audition for the part of Karthika in “Premalu.” “After getting chosen, I received the movie’s screenplay. I didn’t know I had a big part until I finished reading it all,” Akhila explains.

Akhila gives her brother and husband the greatest credit when it comes to their support of her decision to leave her work as a microbiologist to pursue acting full-time. “They are just as involved as I am Whenever a film offer or script comes my way,” she says.

Although the actress is unable to provide any information about her next endeavors, she ends by expressing her delight for the movies, for which she has already finished shooting.
