In Bollywood, Huma Qureshi is an advocate for salary parity

Recently, Huma Qureshi discussed the ongoing problem of salary inequality in Bollywood and emphasised the need for structural reform. The “Maharani” actress spoke on the pervasive prejudices that prevent female actresses from getting the credit they deserve in the business and voiced her wish for equal pay.

During her discussion with AfterHours with All About Eve, Huma, who demonstrated her dancing skills in “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” discussed the traditional Bollywood pay system, which often gives male performers a higher proportion of revenues despite having less screen time.

Animal is described as “crafty” by Huma Qureshi, who wants to make a movie in which she murders thousands of people with a machine gun.
Speaking on the disparity, she said that, regrettably, women in the business do not get the same compensation that males do, even if they have the same degree of fame. She claims that one of the causes of this is the widespread perception that male stars in films should get more compensation since the protagonist is usually the main character.

The actor-producer, who has made memorable appearances on screen in films like as “Gangs of Wasseypur” and “Badlapur,” stressed the need of a more profound change at the corporate and studio levels. She recognised the structural prejudice that perpetuates the gender pay disparity by giving male performers larger budgets, even in her capacity as a producer.
Beyond compensation, Qureshi drew attention to the differences in the facilities offered to female actors—from apartments to vanity vans—exposing the widespread gender-based inequalities. She expressed her worries about the industry’s belief that women are interchangeable, which contributes to the current discrepancies in treatment and compensation.
