In an interview, Salim Khan discussed the recent gunshot incident that happened close to his family’s Mumbai home. He said that people threatening his son Salman Khan are “jaahil,” or ignorant, and that the Khan family has received additional police protection from Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

“What’s there to talk about ye jaahil log jo kehte hain maar denge tab pata lagega na?” Salim Khan asked in Hindi during an interview with India Today. “These illiterate people say you’ll learn your lesson when we’ll kill you.” There is more police protection for us. The Mumbai Police have promised to keep our friends and ourselves safe. They must be paying attention if they have detained two people already today.

He said that Salman has been counseled to adhere to his regular routine. Salim said that they have been instructed not to discuss the event in public since it is under investigation by the authorities.

Salman Khan’s first video after the gunshot incident outside his Mumbai home has been doing the rounds online. The actor visited Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, at his residence on Tuesday. Khan was seen chatting with CM Shinde in a video that the news organization ANI posted on social media. Salim Khan, his father, was also with him.

On April 14, gunshots were heard outside Salman Khan’s home in the Galaxy Apartments in the Bandra neighborhood of Mumbai. Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, two suspects from Bhuj, Gujarat, were taken into custody by the Mumbai Crime Branch late on Monday night and transported to Mumbai. The police claim that the accused made three reconnaissances of Salman Khan’s home. Bullets were fired at the location where Salman waved to his admirers, and the police suspect that the accused had intended to strike there. According to a senior officer, “the language used in a Facebook post was threatening, and the role of Anmol Bishnoi—brother of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi—is visible.”
