Makarand Deshpande Regarding the Reasons Behind the Cuts of His Scenes in SS Rajamouli’s RRR: “It Was Getting Hard for Me”

Makarand Deshpande said that difficulties in scheduling led to the removal of his sequences from SS Rajamouli’s film RRR. He appeared in a little part in the movie with Jr. NTR and Ram Charan. He said in an interview with Lallantop Cinema that he was unable to change the dates of shooting, therefore, his sequences had to be trimmed. Deshpande said he enjoyed shooting at first, but he found it hard to stick with it because of the long hours. The delays cost him numerous sequences that might have enhanced his performance.

Because it was such a huge movie, a lot of factors, including COVID and rain, hampered the schedules. Thus, it got challenging. I had a great experience filming the movie at first. But after that, I found it challenging because of how spread out the timetable was. The dates also prevented me from seeing other moments, so the presence might have been better. However, an actor can only do their part; you really can’t do what gets cut,” he said.

Everyone at Rajamouli’s was taken aback when Makarand Deshpande showed up sans his trademark mustache and disheveled hair. He felt his hiring was due to his distinctive appearance. “Their reaction was unbelievable,” he remembered. They didn’t stop staring at me since I had cropped my hair! My hair was cut short and I didn’t have a mustache since it was for a character! When Ram Charan arrived, he said, “I am a big fan of yours and I have seen Satya.” It was very kind of him to tell me you were coming, so I came to meet you.

Makarand apologized to Rajamouli for his appearance and cited what the actor had said to him. “I apologized; I think you may have called me because of how I looked,” but Rajamouli said that cosmetics might provide the same effect. That was such a lovely thing to say, “I called you because you are a fine actor and we want you in our film,” he said.

Regarding employment, the actor is now starring in Monkey Man, directed by Dev Patel. In the same conversation, Makarand gave his word that Monkey Man would be published in India and that the producers were already in contact with the relevant teams to discuss it. He went on to say that the current Lok Sabha elections were likely the reason for the film’s delayed release in India. He noted that the movie would finally be released in India and gave his word that nothing improper was in it.
