Nikhil Siddhartha: “Spy Was Released Before Completion Of Post-production Work”

After receiving both critical and box office praise for his flicks Karthikeya 2 and 18 Pages, Telugu actor Nikhil Siddhartha was on a winning streak last year. The pan-Indian release of Karthikeya 2 performed better commercially than Hindi films such as Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan.

There were high hopes for his next movie, Spy, which was released in June of this year, after his successful tenure the previous year. Because the film’s narrative centered on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s unexplained disappearance, attention was further stirred. But the movie surprisingly failed to live up to the hype and was a failure. It did not do well at the box office and had mixed to poor reviews. After the setback, Nikhil Siddhartha was reportedly unhappy but unsurprised.

He recently admitted to the team’s errors at an event in Hyderabad and explained why, despite having an intriguing idea, the film did not succeed. Nikhil said that Spy was released before sufficient post-production work was finished, indicating that the movie was rushed into theaters.

When Spy was released, Nikhil said that the shooting was just around 10 days from completion. Some parts did not add up in the final result since the producers rushed post-production to get it ready for distribution without completely shooting it.

He promised his followers that he wouldn’t make the same error again and revealed that his next three films, Karthikeya 3, Swayambhu, and The India House, would be well-made with compelling narratives that won’t be hurried. Nikhil has also mentioned this topic before. He apologized to his followers in a tweet for disappointing them when Spy was published in June and was deemed a failure within a week, and he pledged to take more care with his work going forward.
