On Karisma Kapoor breaking family tradition to enter Bollywood, Kareena Kapoor says: It was challenging
In show business, Kareena Kapoor Khan has made great strides. The actress recently discussed the period when women in the Kapoor khandan/family were not permitted to work in movies. She is also the granddaughter of the renowned actor Raj Kapoor. Karisma, Kareena’s older sister, was the first member of the family to break into show business and establish a reputation for herself.
Regarding the same, Kareena said that her father Randhir Kapoor defied convention and supported their acting careers. The Heroine actress said, “I think my father has been one of the coolest fathers ever,” referring to him as the “coolest.”
She said, “Times were different” while talking about the period when Kapoor women were not permitted to work. “In the 1970s and other decades, things were different because of the times. They never truly worked together after being married, but I’m delighted my father adjusted to the times since that’s what it’s all about. For your children, you must continuously change. That is crucial, as is not continuing to live in the past.
The actress said, “But never to suggest that my father didn’t support her and never to say… It was tough during Karisma’s time since she was one of the first Kapoor daughters. Even now, if he calls me when he is aware that I am filming, he will apologize and say, “Oh no, okay, focus on your work.” He’s always just been very pleasant about everything, and he’s really cosmopolitan and open-minded.
Bebo further emphasized her father’s revolutionary thinking and referred to him as a “friend and guide.”
In the meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor is about to make her OTT debut with the Sujoy Ghosh-directed film Jaane Jaan. Netflix will start streaming the movie on September 21. The criminal thriller, which is based on Keigo Higashino’s novel Devotion of Suspect X, also stars Vijay Varma and Jaideep Alhawat. Sujoy, though, had sought Saif Ali Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 2015 before the movie ended up in Kareena’s lap.
