Oscar winner Kartiki Gonsalves and director of Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate, Satyajit Bhatkal, are part of the ALT EFF jury

The largest venue for environmental film in India, the All Living Things Environmental Film Festival (ALT EFF), has honored director Satyajit Bhatkal with a prestigious judging panel. Satyajit, who has an illustrious career filled with social change efforts and award-winning films, brings his unmatched knowledge to the festival this year and serves on the jury with Oscar-winning director Kartiki Gonsalves.

In addition to his revolutionary work on Aamir Khan’s ground-breaking program Satyamev Jayate, Satyajit Bhatkal is renowned for his skill as a filmmaker. He has also won awards for films including Chale Chalo, Bombay Lawyers, and Zokkomon.

Regarding his appointment to the jury, Satyajit said, “What I saw impacted me deeply. Many of the movies, in my opinion, were excellent. After seeing a few of the movies, I was completely ruined. They evoked strong emotions and provided a visual representation of things we would normally only know cognitively. Honestly, my only idea was, “How can we show these movies to more people?” I don’t believe I would have seen what I have seen otherwise, so this has been a fantastic chance.

“We are thrilled to have Satyajit Bhatkal join the ALT EFF 2023 judging panel. His commitment to using gripping stories to advance social change is a wonderful fit with the spirit of our event. The festival’s co-founder, Kunal Khanna, stated, “With his invaluable insights, we are confident that our festival will continue to inspire and educate audiences about the pressing environmental challenges we face.”

In its fourth year, ALT EFF is still supporting movies that focus on sustainability, climate change, and environmental problems. This year’s festival will include 62 captivating films from 50 nations in a novel hybrid format that combines live screenings with an online component.

With its hybrid format, which runs from December 1 to December 10, ALT EFF 2023 makes sure that these powerful tales are seen by a worldwide audience, encouraging compassion and understanding for our planet and its people.
