Remembering the 31-Year-Ago Death of Divya Bharti

Similar to Sushant Singh Rajput, Divya Bharti was killed off in her prime, leaving many unsolved concerns. After a short period of celebrity fame, she passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 1993, when she was only 19 years old.

Interestingly, Divya Bharati acted in both of Shah Rukh’s first movies.
Shah Rukh Khan’s first movie was going to be Dil Aashna Hai, directed by Hema Malini, rather than Deewana. The original release of Hema on December 18, 1992, was postponed due to the country’s upheaval after the destruction of the Babri Masjid. Dil Aashna Hai was, in fact, SRK’s first movie. Two weeks later, on December 25, it was eventually released.
Divya Bharti became famous right away.

Remembering her signature style In a previous interview, Shah Rukh Hema Malini spoke about how he first met her in Mumbai when she was a novice and how he insisted on being in the movie when she informed him she was becoming director.

“I informed him straight out that the role of the girl in the movie was Divya Bharti. He might have a short stint as her boyfriend. He was determined to take on the part. If only I could assign him additional tasks. A major theme throughout the girl’s narrative was Dil Aashna Hai. Divya was amazing in the movie I made. I hope she lived a very long time. Hema regretted saying that “she would have touched the sky.”

The popular book Lace by Shirley Conan was the inspiration for Dil Aashna Hai.

In each of SRK’s first two movies, Divya Bharati costarred. Divya was a dedicated worker who was a star material, according to SRK. Before she could achieve the fame she deserved, death claimed her. Divya released two superhits in 1992: Deewana and Shola Aur Shabnam.

The underproduction of at least twelve films was impacted by Divya’s death.

Pahlaj Nihalani, a producer-director, recalls: “People say many things about her death.” However, nobody really knows what transpired that evening. That will always be a mystery. To me, she was a daughter. And really loving! She once severely hurt her foot shooting, yet the next morning she hobbled back to work. Shooting had been canceled, so I had to make her go back to sleep.”

The loss of Divya Bharti caused chaos in the film business. She was in the lead in at least ten or twelve films when she abruptly passed away. They all have to be abandoned and restarted with a different heroine. The industry suffered a great loss with her passing. Everything in her path became gold.

Sridevi took Divya’s position in Laadla. Raveena Tandon replaced her in Mohra and Dilwale. In Dhanwan, Karisma Kapoor took Divya’s position. With Ruk ruk ruk in Vijaypath, Tabu sung her way to fame when Divya had to be substituted. Pooja Bhatt took up the role of the unfortunate actress in Angrakshak, while Juhi Chawla took her in Kartavya and Radha Ka Sangam.

Nearly every movie listed above was a huge smash.
If Kajol hadn’t taken Divya Bharti’s place in Hulchul, she would never have met Ajay Devgan, her future husband.
