RRR: SS Rajamouli’s Magnum Opus: Behind Jr. NTR, Ram Charan’s Iconic Action Face-Off

The action sequences starring SS Rajamouli, Jr. NTR, and Ram Charan in RRR have to be among their most memorable. The central focus of the historical drama, which takes place in the 1920s, is the brave freedom heroes Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, who are represented by Ram Charan and Jr. NTR. On March 25, 2022, the film had its premiere in India before heading to Japan and the US. The performances of Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, and Alison Doody were all flawless. Cinematographer KK Senthil explained a handful of the film’s most memorable scenes in an interview with a major site.

What Was the Story Behind Jr. NTR’s Terrifying Scene With Tigers Next to Him?
In one scene, Jr. NTR approaches a tiger from behind after running alongside it. Then foxes and wolves start hunting him. Senthil claims that they were surprised by how fast Jr. NTR ran. It turns out that the actor competed at the state and national levels in badminton throughout his teenage years. Senthil acknowledged that it was challenging to equal his degree of physical conditioning. Another iconic scene has Jr. NTR attacking British citizens by jumping out of a car full of wild animals that he has trapped. He also plays off Ram Charan’s character for the first time.

“The interval is sometimes better than the climax in his films,” KK Senthil said in an interview with Film Companion, referring to the legacy of Jr. NTR. We spent several evenings filming this scene. In this scenario, thousands of people were forced to act as if they were being attacked by animals. Our VFX supervisor had the helpful suggestion that we use motorized automobiles with animal faces on them.

In Magadheera, how did Ram Charan surpass his own performance?
In another well-known episode, Ram’s persona physically assaulted a group of Indians who were protesting the British. He goes alone into a sea of people with his lathi, beating and being badly pummeled, but he doesn’t give up until he subdues them. Senthil reveals that Ram was anxious to execute this scene since he didn’t know how the crowd would respond to him beating up other Indians.

“There’s a sequence in Magadheera where he fights 100 people; now he needs to do something bigger,” he said. We increased it to 2000 individuals based on that concept. Being Indian, Charan was extremely reluctant to beat up other Indians, but Rajamouli persuaded him of the character’s motivation. We first spent three months practicing how to accomplish it. Actors with fighters, young fighters, actors with fighting skills, and more were gathered in circles. Getting the audience to feel like they are a part of the mayhem was the hardest problem. In this moment, Charan has a contemplative face that we tried our best to convey.

Ram Charan, Jr.’s Upcoming Movies
Regarding their professional life, Jr. NTR and Hrithik Roshan are now filming War 2. Along with Koratala Siva and Janhvi Kapoor, he is also working on Devara. In contrast, Ram Charan is aiming for Game Changer with Shankar and Kiara Advani. He’ll soon be featured with Janhvi Kapoor in a Buchi Babu Sana movie.
