Shilpa Rao: Even if you’re not very supportive, it’s still a good start

Over the weekend, Shilpa Rao’s performance drew a sizable crowd of Delhiites. During the Shahpur Jat Festival event organized by Delhi Tourism, Shilpa posed the question to the audience, “So, Delhi, are you ready for Valentine’s Day?” The response was overwhelmingly “No,” particularly from the single females in the front row. Shilpa joked back, “Dost-vost bana lo.”Oh my god, it’s scorching outside.

Shilpa sang Besharam Rang and Ghungroo Toot Gaye, then asked the audience if she could go on to ghazals. The singer thanked the audience for their support during her performance of Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo, saying, “Yeh hai Dilli ki audience.” While it is still early, it is still quite supportive. All through the evening, Shilpa interacted with the crowd. There were loud complaints when she added, “Ab yeh party khatam karte hain,” toward the conclusion of her act. She said, “Mere kaan na ab aise bandh ho jayenge,” and then she signed off.
