Swastika Mukherjee confesses that she visited Aishwarya Rai to measure the size of her jeans

On the film, Swastika Mukherjee takes on demanding, difficult parts. Her screen presence is infectious, whether it is in Paatal Lok or Qala, and her dialogue delivery is fluid and easy. She will next be seen in the Hoichoi television series Nikhoj, in which she portrays a heartbroken mother whose daughter goes missing. Tota Roy Choudhary also has a significant part in the show. As the Nikhoj teaser went up, Swastika spoke with Hindustan Times and discussed her role in the film. Swastika calmly and in-depth discussed everything, from discussing her on-screen persona to responding to inquiries about Aishwarya Rai.

When asked how she chooses the parts that are powerful, which are ones that people have always seen her in, Swastika responds, “I don’t do roles that aren’t strong and I dig my own grave (laughs)”. You may see me playing a policeman for the first time in Nikhoj because I always attempt to do something I have never done before. I identify as Lalbazar Brinda Basu, CDP.

“Playing a single mother in this capacity is very difficult. Being a mother and a police officer required me to strike a balance. I constantly checking in with my director to see if my mother role was becoming too much. Women naturally think from the heart; we are constantly in mother mode, she said.

When asked how she prepared for the part, Swastika said that she had never had to do so before. “I have worked in this field for 23 years. I began my profession as a mother to a 10-year-old at the age of 21. Performance has always been my main priority. At age 31, I played a 60-year-old. With everything, I have experimented. Therefore, statements like “I will not play a mother or an aunt” weren’t really an issue.

Swastika would be heard uttering the F-word and other expletives in Nikhoj whenever several celebrities discussed censorship on OTT platforms. She expressed her opinions on the matter by saying, “I do not support. I’ll use that term. Allow yourself to do what comes naturally. You don’t only have to use the F-word; you may use anything, even a passionate exchange between two adults, to demonstrate how it should be done. How long can you make up a kiss or some flowers? Let individuals act as they would in real life. The use of the F-word in the scenarios truly helped me maintain my composure. I warned my director that if I don’t use this term, I’ll be allowed to slap someone. In the second season, he promised to let me to beat up individuals.

After her performance in Mastan, Swastika Mukherjee was put in a new league by the film Chokher Bali, which included several well-known actors. In the movie, Swastika and Aishwarya Rai appeared. Reminiscing about the 2003 movie, Swastika stated, “Yes, I was decked up in jewelry and wore such wonderful outfits. We stayed at a 5-star hotel since it was my second visit to Benaras. Actors now just leave and film for the specified number of days before returning because of the severe financial constraints. Back when we were 23 years old, we used to travel and spend more time there. My life was changed by the experience of seeing Rituparno Ghosh’s creative process.

When questioned whether she could recall seeing Aishwarya Rai, Swastika said, “Yes, she was there. I recall visiting her and inspecting her jeans. Swastika provided an honest but enquiring explanation. Because I couldn’t believe someone could genuinely be so slim and wear adult clothing, I asked to check the size of her pants. My waist was just 2 inches larger than hers, I realized. ‘It’s OK,’ I said. I’m able to go there. Having a waist like that was my objective. It’s intriguing how inspiration may be found in unexpected places. I informed my mother when I got home that I needed a 26-inch waist. To get it, I would have to use all effort possible.
