Ted Sarandos, the CEO of Netflix, had a lower salary in 2023, but it was still $49.8 million

According to “Variety,” Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos made somewhat less money in 2023 than he did the year before, but his compensation package was still worth $49.8 million.

According to a Netflix proxy statement that was submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday (US Pacific Time), that amount decreased from $50.3 million in 2022.

According to “Variety,” Sarandos received a $3 million basic salary in 2023, $28.3 million in stock option awards, a $16.5 million cash bonus, and $1.98 million in additional pay, which included $620,013 for using the company’s aircraft for personal travel and $1.3 million for home security expenses.

The home security expenses were authorized by the Netflix board’s remuneration committee “after considering the potential security concerns related to Mr. Sarandos’ service as an executive officer.” The committee reiterated its view that “security costs are an appropriate and necessary business expense.”

Greg Peters, who became co-CEO in January 2023, received $40.1 million in pay last year, a substantial increase from $28.1 million in 2022. He has held the positions of chief product officer and COO before.

In 2023, Peters received a salary of $2.9 million, $22.7 million in stock options, a $13.9 million cash bonus, and $620,602 for using company planes for personal purposes.
