Zeenat Aman discloses that when Raj Kapoor’s wife signed Satyam Shivam Sundaram, she gave THIS rather than money

In Indian film history, Zeenat Aman is a renowned figure. Along with Neetu Kapoor, the legendary actress who would be returning to the big screen with Manish Malhotra’s Bun Tikki recently visited the contentious couch of Koffee With Karan. Zeenat Aman has a habit of posting intriguing stories about her professional life on her Instagram account. The actress continued this trend by sharing how she got the part of Rupa in Raj Kapoor’s beloved Satyam Shivam Sundaram.

“I was working with him as my co-star in a film called Vakil Babu where he was playing the title role,” Zeenat Aman remembered. He was engrossed in reading Satyam Shivam Sundaram’s screenplay. He would speak about his plans, his desires, and his excitement in between each frame. And it truly caught my attention on all fronts.

The actress went on to say that she never thought Raj Kapoor would cast her as Pujari’s daughter since she preferred a “western image.” “He had delivered Bobby, which at the time was a big box office success. I had a well-established reputation as a “western image.” I never imagined that he would consider using me for this part. It’s a pujari’s daughter!” she said.

“One day we were shooting in Esel Studio, which is down the road from RK (Studio),” she said. I clothed myself in my interpretation of Rupa, assuming it was what he would think of me after pack-up. With makeup, braids, tissue paper plastered on my face, and ghaghra-choli. When I visited RK Studios, he liked to enjoy his Man Friday John while sitting in his cabin. “John, please inform Sir that Rupa has arrived,” I said. Saying, “Who is Rupa?” Give her a call. I went, and he was really amazed. I’ll share with you what he said to Krishna-ji afterwards. After he contacted Krishna-ji, she arrived shortly after with gold guineas. I was given them as my signing payment. The statement he made was, “This girl is a huge star.” She’s not required to do this. Her enthusiasm for this is what motivates me to offer her the role.

Zeenat Aman ended by narrating another incident: “He shot an entire reel with his vision of Rupa on an old song of Nargis-ji, ‘Jaago Mohan Pyaare.'” The photo he took is just magnificent. He wanted to demonstrate to his distributors that Zeenat Aman is capable of becoming Rupa. Every territory expressed interest.

Zeenat Aman began her acting career in 1970 and rose to fame when Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971) became popular and she won the Best Actress BFJA Award. With classic movies like Don and Dharam Veer, Qurbani, and Satyam Shivam Sundaram, she carried on her prosperous career. She did, however, become less visible on TV when she married Mazhar Khan in 1985. The two of them, Azaan Khan and Zahaan Khan, are sons of the marriage, who remained together till 1998.
