Experts Describe The Health Benefits Of Eating An Early Dinner at Night

Dinnertime in the early evening provides many health benefits. The primary advantage is better digestion. Eating before bed allows the body to process food more efficiently since the horizontal posture during sleep doesn’t impede the digestive system. This may help by avoiding issues like indigestion and acid reflux, which can promote a more peaceful night’s sleep.

Additionally, maintaining your weight might be aided by an early night. When you eat late at night, your body tends to retain excess calories as fat because you won’t be using them for energy immediately. By completing supper early, you allow your body plenty of opportunity to burn off calories before going to bed.

This might lead to improved weight control and overall metabolic health. Basically, eating supper at a reasonable hour may help with weight control and digestion.

Speaking exclusively to Jagran English, Dr. Hitendra Garg, a consultant gastroenterologist, hepatologist, and therapeutic endoscopist at Indraprastha Apollo in Delhi, discussed the health advantages of having an early meal.

“Having an early dinner in the evening brings several notable health advantages,” Dr. Hitendra said. By giving our body enough time to properly process the meal before bed, it significantly improves digestion and lowers the risk of problems like acid reflux and indigestion. It helps with weight management because it prevents late-night eating and makes it possible for your body to use calories efficiently. It also improves the quality of your sleep by reducing the pain and disturbances that come with having a full stomach just before bed.

Finally, he said, “It helps control blood sugar levels, which is especially beneficial for diabetics as it minimizes variations in glucose levels after meals. Eating early promotes improved nutritional absorption and metabolic efficiency since it is in tune with your body’s natural cycles. Moreover, by stabilizing blood sugar levels and lowering late-night stresses, eating supper early on a regular basis may enhance mood and mental health.”
