In Kurukshetra, a 14-day campaign to increase awareness about hemophilia begins

Kurukshetra’s Health Department began a 14-day campaign Thursday to raise public awareness about hemophilia and how to avoid it. This time, a blood donation camp was held at Shahabad.

The nodal officer for haemophilia, Additional Senior Medical Officer Dr. Krishan Dutt, stated: “The main goal of a 14-day special drive is to raise community awareness and sensitivity about a serious disease like haemophilia, which is a rare bleeding disorder in which the blood does not clot properly. Ensuring universal access to therapy is another goal of the campaign. ASHA employees, multifunctional health workers, community health officers, and health inspectors are all examples of field health personnel who have received training and orientation in preparation for the campaign.

The district’s nodal officer reported that there were around thirty-five haemophilia sufferers. According to Dr. Dutt, individuals with haemophilia have a range of co-morbidities, such as internal bleeding, joint discomfort, swelling, and profuse bleeding from even little accidents. Patients get missing blood clotting replacement medication in addition to symptomatic treatment.

Dr. Sukhbir Singh, a civil surgeon, said that the department will also set up an OPD screening program to facilitate the early detection of blood abnormalities such as hemophilia. Health care workers would get training at the block level.
