According to Russia, Wagner turned up more than 2,000 pieces of military hardware

After the mercenary group’s brief uprising last month, Russia said on Wednesday that its army had acquired more than 2,000 pieces of military equipment, including tanks, from Wagner. During the short uprising, the armed group—which was crucial to the Ukrainian offensive—tried to overthrow Russia’s military command before giving up.

The defence ministry said in a statement that “more than 2,000 pieces of equipment and weapons have been transferred,” adding that the inventory includes tanks, mobile rocket launchers, and anti-aircraft systems. The army reported receiving “more than 2,500 tonnes of various types of ammunition and about 20,000 small arms.” According to the report, most of the equipment had never been deployed in war.

The weapons have been moved to places in the back where they can be serviced or repaired, according to the military ministry.

Because of a deal with the Kremlin that permitted him to be deported to neighboring Belarus, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who created the Wagner organization, is mostly forgotten today.

However, last month, Belarus’ autocratic president Alexander Lukashenko assured reporters that the 62-year-old mercenary commander was still in Russia and not in his nation.

This month, the Kremlin claimed that President Vladimir Putin had spent hours with Prigozhin in Moscow.
