After being mauled by a black bear, a Pennsylvania man recalls his harrowing assault

John Swartz, a resident of Pennsylvania, came into contact with a black bear in his garage, leaving him with a permanent scar and an unforgettable horror story. Sawrtz managed to escape amazingly, but not before the bear had left its imprint.

Sawrtz recalls that Swartz went into his garage to turn off a hose last Thursday at around 8:45 p.m. He had to cautiously make his way through the area in the dark until he came to the spigot. The black bear suddenly turned and bit into his head as he knelt down at knee height.

Sawrtz said that he was totally taken off guard and had no idea that anything was hidden there.

Sawrtz said that while the bear rummaged through the trash left in the garage, its weight was roughly estimated to be between 250 and 300 pounds. According to Swartz, who spoke to Fox News, the bear shoved him into a shelving unit, and when he made his way back to the home to seek safety, he tripped over the animal.

He returned safely to his home and immediately asked his wife to dial 911. He was then driven to Geisinger Medical Center to get treatment.

Swartz said that he was unaware that he had stumbled over the animal until he saw home security film a few days later, which had captured the occurrence only partly.

Swartz noted that his health had improved despite having paw prints on his shoulders and suffering head wounds.

Sawrtz has a large cut in the middle of his skull and a wound on his forehead.

He said that normally, it is moved to the end of the driveway in the evening so that it is ready for collection on Friday. But because of the rain that evening, it remained there, which, regrettably, attracted the bear.
