Australian Police Open Investigation Into Alleged Abuse of Photographer by Taylor Swift’s Father

Australian police said that they were looking into a 71-year-old man’s possible attack on a photojournalist that happened in Sydney early on Tuesday. The guy was recognized by the accuser as Taylor Swift’s father.

According to police spokesperson Alicia McCumstie, “police have been informed that a 71-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old man at Neutral Bay Wharf about 2:30 am (1530 GMT Monday) before leaving the location.”

“The younger man reported the incident, and North Shore Police Area Command officers are currently investigating.”

Ben McDonald, the purported victim, revealed to AFP that the guy was Scott Swift, Swift’s father.

Following the last of her four performances in the city, McDonald claimed to have been taking pictures of the US pop diva aboard a “superyacht” in Sydney Harbour.

McDonald claims that in order to stop him from snapping pictures of Taylor Swift as she was making her way down the jetty to a waiting car, Swift’s security positioned an umbrella in front of his face.

McDonald said that a guy approached him after Swift left and “punched me in the chops.”

“I had no idea who he was, but when I looked at pictures, I saw that it was Taylor’s father holding their hands.”

It was unexpected. I haven’t experienced it in my 26 years,” he said.

Australian police often don’t make the identities of those they accuse or allege crimes public.

Right now, Taylor Swift is midway through her massive global tour, the Eras Tour.

This week, she is scheduled to go to Singapore for the second part of a musical tour that Pollstar predicts will make over $1 billion, making it the highest-grossing musical tour ever.
