Chicago mother cuts kid out of victim’s womb and pleads guilty; she receives 50 years in prison

A Chicago woman admitted to murder on Tuesday and was given a 50-year jail term. She was accused of luring a pregnant adolescent to her house and she used a butcher knife to cut the baby out of her womb over five years ago.

News sources stated that 51-year-old Clarisa Figueroa, who was seated in a wheelchair and had on a bright yellow jumpsuit, did not make a statement but replied in the affirmative when Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas asked if she understood that she would have to serve the full sentence and would not be eligible for early release on parole.

According to the prosecution, on April 23, 2019, Figueroa lured 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez to her house with the promise of free clothes for her pregnant child. The girl was then strangled with a wire. Ochoa-Lopez has a nine-month-old baby. After giving birth, Figueroa called 911 to report that the baby was not breathing.

After almost two months, the infant passed away.

The victim’s husband, Yovanny Jadiel Lopez, who is also the kid’s father, spoke about how the tragedy impacted him and Joshua, the couple’s oldest child, who he claimed “has lost his mother forever.” In a statement that was read out in court in both Spanish and English, he stated, “The memory of my infant son’s last breath in my arms is complete agony.”

“The day you pass away, God’s justice will be served upon you.” Authorities claim that Clarisa Figueroa informed her family that she was pregnant shortly after her adult son passed away from natural causes. They claim that she planned to have a kid for months and shared images of a baby-themed room and an ultrasound on her Facebook page. She and Ochoa-Lopez met on a pregnant women’s Facebook group in March 2019. It was discovered by detectives looking into Ochoa-Lopez’s disappearance that she had visited the defendant’s house.

When authorities discovered Clarisa’s vehicle parked close to where she vanished two weeks before, Desiree Figueroa, her daughter, informed them that her mother had just given birth.

The infant was subsequently found not to be Clarisa Figueroa’s, according to DNA testing.

The corpse of Ochoa-Lopez was discovered outside the Figueroa residence in a trash bin.

Police and prosecutors alleged that Clarisa Figueroa had duped her boyfriend Piotr Bobak into thinking he was the father.

Bobak admitted to obstructing justice last year and was given a four-year jail term after tidying up the crime scene.

29-year-old Desiree Figueroa was given a 30-year jail term after entering a guilty plea to murder in January for aiding her mother. She was to serve as a witness against her mother.
