The runway at Dubai International Airport was buried by the city’s flash flood, giving the impression that it was an ocean; streets transformed into rivers, and houses were flooded.

Flight Operations Have Been Canceled

Videos of automobiles partially submerged in water in the airport parking lot and aircraft being parked on wet runways were circulated on social media. The airport’s access roads were completely submerged under water.

The footage also showed enormous passenger aircraft traveling down the flooded runway, which gave the impression of being an ocean, more like boats.

Numerous Flights Were cancelled
Following these events, the Dubai airport website displayed scores of delayed or canceled flights on Tuesday, with Saudi Arabia, the UK, India, and Pakistan among the impacted destinations.

The bad weather caused several flights to be delayed or canceled, according to a statement from Emirates airline.

Flydubai acknowledged in a statement that it has temporarily halted all of its flights leaving Dubai till Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. (local time).

Flydubai has canceled all of its flights that were planned to leave from Dubai tonight evening, April 16, with effect from 10:00 (Dubai local time) on April 17. Passengers who do not have Dubai as their ultimate destination would not be allowed to fly during this time, an airline official told the Reuters news agency.
