In 2023, Mark Zuckerberg earned almost $24 million in additional compensation on top of his $1 base salary

In 2023, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, received the lowest compensation of any Meta employee—just $1. But he also got additional payments totaling roughly $24.4 million, which mostly went toward paying for security.
Although the precise amount spent on his protection was not disclosed, Meta raised its budget for his protection from $10 million to $14 million in 2023.

In comparison to 2018, Zuckerberg’s security pre-tax allowance grew by 40%. This followed a year of cost-cutting for Meta, in which around 11,000 people were let go.

According to the NY Post, Meta said at the time that Zuckerberg could utilize the extra funding for “additional personnel, equipment, services, and residential improvement,” among other safety-related concerns.

According to Fortune, Mark Zuckerberg’s private aircraft expenses were partially reimbursed by his $24.4 million pay in 2023.

According to reports, the 39-year-old purposefully maintained his pay at $1 per request and refused to participate in Meta’s bonus plan or accept any equity incentives.

Although Zuckerberg has only received a nominal income of $1 per year since 2013, his fortune has soared by nearly $47 billion this year alone.

With a $155 billion net worth, he is presently the fourth wealthiest person in the world according to Forbes, after Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Bernard Arnault.

Meta Gains Explode
This week, Facebook’s parent company, Meta, reported record quarterly earnings.

According to the corporation, net profit increased to $12.4 billion during the January–March period, with overall revenue—primarily from the sale of advertisements—rising by an astonishing 27 percent to $36.5 billion.

During an investor call, Mark Zuckerberg informed analysts, “We estimate that more than 3.2 billion people use at least one of our apps each day and we’re seeing healthy growth in the US.”

With 69,329 workers worldwide as of this quarter, Meta reported a modest increase over the previous quarter but a decrease from a high of over 87,000 workers in 2022.
