Information on an Indian who murdered his wife might get the FBI $2.5 lakh

A reward of up to USD 2,50,000 is now being offered by the FBI for information that results in the apprehension of a 33-year-old Indian citizen who is considered “extremely dangerous” and is sought in the US on suspicion of murdering his wife in 2015. Bhadreshkumar Chetanbhai Patel is sought for reportedly murdering his wife Palak Patel by repeatedly beating her with an item as they worked at a doughnut business in Hanover, Maryland. He was last seen in the Newark, New Jersey, region.

The FBI has listed Patel as one of its “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives,” and it has offered a reward of up to USD 250,000 for information that leads to his capture. When it first came out, the FBI was offering a reward of USD $1,000,000 for information on Patel. According to an FBI statement, Patel has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and dangerous weapons with intent to hurt.

On April 20, 2015, the Maryland district court issued a federal arrest warrant for Patel after his accusation of evading prosecution by fleeing unlawfully. In 2017, the FBI released a news statement stating that Patel and his spouse were night shift workers at a relative’s doughnut store. Investigators surmise that on April 12, 2015, sometime before midnight, Patel murdered his 21-year-old wife in the shop’s rear room.

The FBI claims that investigators have hypothesized that Palak Patel wanted to go back to India since their visas had expired the previous month, but her husband was against it.
