Iran issues a ‘decisive reaction’ warning to Israel’s military operations at the UN

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran’s foreign minister, warned Israel not to launch any military operations aimed at Iranian interests. Declaring that Iran’s “defense and counteroffensive measures” were over, he called on the whole community to prevent Israel from launching any further military operations against Iran.

Amir-Abdollahian said, “Iran’s legitimate defense and countermeasures have been concluded,” during UNSC talks on the Middle East crisis. As a result, we must force the Israeli leadership to cease its continued military adventurism against our interests, centers, and resources. The Islamic Republic of Iran would undoubtedly not think twice to exert its natural right to respond to the Israeli government in a way that is appropriate and decisive in order to compel it to apologize for any unlawful use of force and violation of our sovereignty.”

He said that on April 1, Israel launched a missile strike on Iranian diplomatic grounds in Damascus. Israel’s actions, according to him, constitute a “clear violation of the Vienna Convention, international law, and the United Nations Charter.”

He said, “The missile attack on the Iranian diplomatic premises in Damascus on April 1st demonstrated once more that this regime does not hesitate to violate the known and well-recognized Vienna Conventions as well as the fundamental principle of the immunity of such places and people.” The assault is severely condemned because, as the majority of Security Council members said at the meeting here on April 2, it constituted a blatant breach of both international law and the Vienna Convention.”

He criticized the United States, the United Kingdom, and France for failing to respond to the assault on the Iranian diplomatic facilities in Damascus. He went so far as to apologize for the UNSC’s lack of response to Iran’s repeated appeals to stop Israel from attacking Iran’s interests. He claimed that Israel’s conduct had received approval from the White House.

He continued, “Regrettably, the Security Council, had not taken any action during the past months to our official and repeated requests to prevent further attacks by the Israeli regime on Iran’s interests, centres and official military advisors who were there to fight terrorism and due to the unfortunate and completely irresponsible behaviour of the United States, the UK and France, in response to this illegal attack, failed even to issue a mere statement containing a simple condemnation.”

“No will stay mute in the face of the slaughter of its diplomatic, legal, and official agents and such a flagrant and dangerous military assault on its Embassy, which is seen as a symbol of its sovereignty. The continuation of the White House’s approval of the Israeli regime and the Security Council’s inaction in stopping the Israeli regime’s attacks faced the Islamic Republic of Iran, which until recently had shown considerable restraint against other terrorist missile attacks in light of the dire situation in the region and willing to give the role of the United Nations a chance to prevent the escalation of the conflict,” he continued.

He said, “Iran’s military attack on April 13th was first and foremost necessary because Iran had no other option,” in order to defend its attack on Israel. Second, it was done in reaction to the Israeli regime’s repeated and persistent onslaught against Iran’s interests, particularly against our embassy in Syria.”

Thirdly, it happened as Iran’s right to a lawful defense under international law was fulfilled. Fourthly, it was carried out by adhering to the rule against attacking civilians or their property. Fifth, it was entirely restricted and appropriate in terms of its scope and military needs since it concentrated only on the two Israeli military facilities that were used in the assault on our embassy,” he said.

Three senior Iranian generals were killed when Iran fired several drones and missiles at Israel on Saturday in retribution for what it said was an Israeli airstrike on its embassy in Syria. According to The Times of Israel, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), said on Sunday morning that air defenses intercepted almost all (99%) of the approximately 300 missiles that Iran launched at Israel throughout the course of the previous night.

“The Iranian threat met the aerial and technological superiority of the IDF, combined with a strong fighting coalition, which together intercepted the vast majority of the threats,” Hagari said. According to The Times of Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised at a cabinet meeting on April 17 that his country would follow its own judgment and take all necessary precautions to safeguard itself, even if such precautions run counter to the advise of its friends.

Following his meeting with the foreign ministers of Germany and the United Kingdom, Netanyahu made the announcement at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday. On Wednesday, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron arrived in Israel. According to Netanyahu’s statements during the cabinet meeting, the two leaders offered “all kinds of suggestions and advice.” Although he expressed gratitude, he said Israel will still “make our own decisions, and Israel will do everything necessary to defend itself.”
