Israel will reopen the border with northern Gaza

Reopening a crucial border gate into the severely damaged northern Gaza, Israel said on Friday that it is stepping up efforts to enhance the flow of humanitarian supplies into the Gaza Strip.

Shortly after President Joe Biden informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office that more action by Israel to save civilians and humanitarian workers would be required before the US would continue to support the conflict in Gaza, Netanyahu made the announcement. The notification was vague about the kinds and amounts of things that were allowed in.

Nevertheless, in spite of their disagreements, Israel has received vital military assistance and diplomatic backing from the Biden administration during its six-month conflict with Hamas. After Israeli soldiers murdered seven relief workers who were assisting with food deliveries in Gaza, Israel is facing increasing isolation on the international front.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the number of Palestinian fatalities increased to over 33,000 on Thursday, with a further 75,600 Palestinians injured. The government claims that two-thirds of the deceased are women and children, but it does not distinguish between fighters and civilians in its count.

According to the UN, a large portion of the people living in northern Gaza are in danger of famine.

Retained eight for terrorist incitement
Eight persons, four of whom were Jerusalem district police officers and four of whom were from the country’s north, were taken into custody by the Jerusalem district police on Friday on suspicion of encouraging and aiding terrorism and terrorists. Following the thousands-strong Fajr (dawn) prayer on the Temple Mount, there were arrests. According to the police, a few worshippers on the Temple Mount briefly chanted anti-terrorism and inciting slogans, eerily echoing events from the previous week.

All Israeli franchises are acquired by McDonald’s
Aljazeera said that McDonald’s said it will purchase its 30-year-old Israel franchise from Alonyal Ltd., taking back control of 225 locations that employ more than 5,000 people. After Alonyal announced that it would be giving free meals to the Israeli troops in response to Hamas’ strike on October 7, the US fast-food business was subject to protests and boycotts. Despite being a multinational company, McDonald’s franchisees are usually individually owned and run locally.
