Israeli drone and missile assaults are claimed by the Iraqi Shia militia

May 10, Baghdad Three locations in southern Israel were targeted by drone and missile assaults, which have been attributed to a Shia group in Iraq.

The militia, which goes by the name Islamic Resistance in Iraq, said on Thursday in two online statements that its fighters attacked two drones toward a crucial location in Eilat and launched a drone attack “on the Nevatim (military) base in Be’er Sheva” at dawn. The statement did not provide any additional information about the precise location targeted or any casualties that may have resulted.

In a third statement, the militia claimed credit for yet another strike that occurred on Thursday morning when its fighters launched an updated long-range al-Arqab cruise missile on the Ashkelon oil terminal. However, the statement did not specify the precise site that was targeted or the number of fatalities that occurred, according to Xinhua news agency.

The operations were conducted “in solidarity with the people in the Gaza Strip,” the messages emphasized, and the militia promised to keep attacking “the enemy’s strongholds”.

Since the battle in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has attacked US and Israeli bases in the area many times.
