Israeli Strike in South Lebanon Claims Life of Child and Woman in Latest Incident of Violence

Lebanese capital area: According to local rescuers and official media, a lady and a daughter from the same family were killed in an Israeli attack on Tuesday in the southern region of Lebanon. This area has been the site of frequent fire exchanges between Israel and the Hezbollah organization, which is supported by Iran.
The raid is in response to Hezbollah’s previous claim that it attacked Israeli sites in the north using drones, which Israel characterized as a “significant” hit.

An individual in the civil defense informed AFP that “a woman in her 50s and a 12-year-old girl have been killed” as a result of an Israeli attack. Several members of the same family were wounded and sent to hospitals.

Reports indicate that a mother and her young kid were murdered, along with “six others wounded in an enemy air strike on a house in Hanin,” which is close to the Israeli border, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).

“A family that had not left… since Israeli attacks started” lived in the two-story home that was “totally destroyed” when “enemy warplanes carried out a raid, firing two air-to-surface missiles and destroying it,” according to the NA.

Since October 7th, Hamas assaults on Israel have sparked war in Gaza, and near-daily battles ensued, displacing tens of thousands on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon border.

Recent days have seen an increase in rocket assaults on Israeli positions by Hezbollah, with the most recent attack going beyond the typical border region.

Israel denied that their targets were struck in a previous statement from Hezbollah, which claimed to have carried out “a combined air attack using decoy and explosive drones that targeted” two Israeli sites north of Acre.

One of their members was murdered earlier in the day in south Lebanon in an Israeli drone strike, the Lebanese group said, adding that the assault was “in response” to that.

“We successfully intercepted two suspicious aerial targets off the northern coast,” the Israeli army said.

According to Hezbollah, an Israeli airstrike killed one of its members on Tuesday morning. The militant was a local citizen whose car was hit.

According to an AFP source close to the Iran-backed organization, an engineer serving in the group’s air defense forces was killed in a vehicle crash caused by an Israeli drone attack deep inside Lebanon.

According to an AFP journalist, the attack occurred in the Abu al-Aswad neighborhood, which is close to the seaside city of Tyre and around 35 kilometers (22 miles) from the border.

Everything on the fighter’s vehicle was burned to ash.

Another fighter was slain by Israel, Hezbollah announced in an overnight statement.

“Two significant terrorists in Hezbollah’s aerial unit” were reportedly killed in nighttime and early attacks by the Israeli army earlier Tuesday.

The terrorist leader assassinated on Tuesday was “heavily involved in the planning and execution of terrorist attacks against Israel,” according to the statement.

Approximately 380 individuals have lost their lives in Lebanon since October 7, with 72 of those casualties being civilians and the majority being Hezbollah combatants, as reported by AFP.

On their side of the border, Israel reports the deaths of eight civilians and eleven troops.
