Jonathan Adam Lecompte: Who Was He? Carjacker suspect Alex Driggers kills a “good Samaritan” in Lumberton

According to Lumberton police, 38-year-old Jonathan Adam Lecompte of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was slain in March 2024 while attempting to stop a carjacking in Lumberton. When the authorities disclosed Lecompte’s identity, they called him a “good samaritan.”

Social media users are now sharing a video of the event in which Lecompte is seen pointing a pistol at carjacker Ricky Alex Driggers, 28. Shots were fired shortly after, and Driggers fled with the automobile, striking and critically wounding Lecompte in the process. After being brought to a hospital, Lecompte passed away from his wounds.

In a press release, Lumberton police said, “Good Samaritans got involved to prevent the carjacking but the suspect was then able to steal one of the good Samaritans’ vehicles.” “The suspect allegedly struck one of the good Samaritans with the stolen vehicle on purpose while stealing it.”

The event happened at around 10:30 p.m. local time in the 4100 block of. According to Fox8, Driggers was engaged in a hit-and-run at the gasoline station parking lot on 2605 W. 5th Street and was on route to commit another carjacking at a McDonald’s location on 5th Street when police responded to the carjacking call.

Driggers is being jailed without bail at the Robeson County Detention Center after being charged with first-degree murder and two charges of attempted robbery, among other offenses. He was apprehended by Lumberton police after an automobile accident on Highway 41 close to Selma Road.
