Middle East tensions are ebbing as Iran’s proxy Hezbollah launches a barrage of missiles at Israeli Army Headquarters; IDF reacts

Hezbollah, an Iranian proxy and friend of Hamas, said in a statement on Monday that it had launched “dozens” of Katyusha rockets toward a northern Israeli army headquarters. According to an AFP report, the Lebanese militants said it was a reprisal for operations that had targeted communities in southern Lebanon.

According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), “approximately 35 launches” were seen entering the northern Israeli town of Ein Zeitim from Lebanon. They claimed to have “struck the sources of the launches” and that no one had been hurt.

According to the IDF, the attack originated in the southern Lebanon region of Arzoun.

The Israeli army and Iran-backed Hezbollah have been engaged in almost daily cross-border gunfire since Hamas’s historic onslaught on Israel on October 7 that sparked the Gaza War.

The Lebanese Shiite terrorist organization has increased its cross-border strikes on Israeli military targets as tensions between Iran and Israel reach an all-time high.

Hezbollah released a statement claiming that it has launched many Katyusha rockets against “the headquarters of the 3rd Infantry Brigade of the 91st Division at Ein Zeitim Base.”

This was a reaction to Israeli assaults, most notably at Rab Tlatin, Odaisseh, and Srifa, on “southern villages and civilian homes.”

Israeli attacks on the three communities were reported by Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) on Monday.

According to an AFP count, at least 376 people have died in Lebanon since October 7, the majority of them Hezbollah members but also 70 civilians.

On its side of the border, Israel reports that eight civilians and ten troops have died.
