“Moving Ahead” With Rafah Attack, Israel Indicates, Drawing Egypt’s Concern: 10 Points

Egypt, Israel’s neighbor, issued a harsh warning on Wednesday after Israel said it was “moving ahead” with its intended operation to target Hamas in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
Ten Things About The Israel-Hamas War

According to a government spokesman for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel is “moving ahead” with its ground operation in Rafah. But the defense official provided no schedule.
According to the person, the Israeli Defense Ministry purchased 40,000 tents, each of which could accommodate 10 to 12 people, to shelter Palestinians who had been evacuated from Rafah ahead of an impending attack.
As the last significant population center in Gaza that Israeli ground forces have not yet reached, Rafah, Netanyahu has said again and time again that Israel would continue with its attack.
Rafah is home to four Hamas fighting battalions, which are bolstered by hundreds of terrorists who are withdrawing, according to Israel, which began its war against Hamas after the terrorist group attacked Israeli cities on October 7.
However, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi issued a warning to Israel, stating that any military actions in Rafah would have “catastrophic consequences” for the region’s peace and security as well as the humanitarian situation there.
Over a million Palestinians have sought refuge in Rafah, which is close to the Egyptian border, after the outbreak of hostilities between Israel and Hamas more than six months ago.
The US, Israel’s strongest ally, has urged it to abandon its preparations for an attack on Rafah and asserted that it had alternative options for dealing with Hamas forces there.
The majority of Israel’s ground forces have left southern Gaza, but the country has continued airstrikes and incursions into the regions where its soldiers withdrew.
The US, Egypt, and Qatar have not been successful in their attempts to mediate a long-term truce in time to prevent an attack on Rafah.
According to Gaza authorities, Israel’s military operation has claimed the lives of over 34,000 Palestinians, and many more are thought to be buried behind debris.
