Operation starts to remove Indians from Haiti

According to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, India has begun Operation Indravati to evacuate its citizens from Haiti to the Dominican Republic. He also affirmed that India is “fully committed” to ensuring the safety and well-being of Indians living overseas.

The action was taken a few days after India said that, in light of the worsening security situation in the Caribbean country, it was considering the evacuation of up to ninety of its citizens from Haiti.

In order to move its citizens from Haiti to the Dominican Republic, India launches Operation Indravati. Today, 12 Indians were evacuated. utterly dedicated to ensuring the safety and welfare of our citizens overseas. In a post on X, Jaishankar expressed gratitude to the Dominican Republic’s government for their assistance.

He included a picture with his message as well. Coordinated assaults on major sites in Haiti have been carried out by a number of gangs in an effort to pressure beleaguered Prime Minister Ariel Henry into resigning. India does not have an embassy in Haiti; instead, the Indian mission in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic’s capital, is keeping an eye on the situation.

Gangs with guns causing a lot of bloodshed

Port-au-Prince: Armed gangs have resumed their assaults in the outskirts of the Haitian capital, leaving once-calm neighborhoods rocked by gunfire. Gangs barricaded certain area’s entrances, and at least five dead were seen in the suburbs.
