Smoke reaches northern Europe due to the Canada Wildfires: US Pollution Levels Worst in Recent History, New York’s AQI at 400

According to specialists, the US is now facing the greatest harmful air pollution in recent memory as a result of the Canadian wildfire smoke that has invaded the nation. One of the worst-affected cities, New York, has been subjected to pollution levels that are more than five times higher than the federal guideline for air quality.

According to The Guardian, Americans saw the worst day of average exposure to such pollution since 2006 as a result of the massive forest fires.

Since Wednesday, the Northeast has seen a smoke cloud that has darkened the sky above New York City, made the air unsafe to breathe, and disrupted daily life.

Here are the most recent updates on the wildfires in Canada:

– According to the Environmental Protection Agency, more than 111 million Americans were subject to air quality warnings as a result of the fires on Thursday.

– In certain areas of New York, the Air Quality Index exceeded 400, which is nearly 58 times the W.H.O.’s recommendations. Nearly 195 micrograms of particle matter were found in the air in New York, which is more than five times the legal limit for the country.

– There are presently more than 400 wildfires raging throughout Canada’s provinces.

– Although the situation is getting better, it won’t be back to normal until the weekend.

On Wednesday, New York has scheduled around 300 visits to the emergency department for symptoms of wheezing, asthma, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

– The White House canceled an outdoor Pride celebration, but this weekend’s march and festival are still scheduled.

While this was happening, the National Zoo made the decision to shut “for the safety of our animals, our staff, and our guests.”

– The fires parked clumps of air rated poor or worse across the densely populated Eastern Seaboard and pushed plumes of fine particulate matter as far away as North Carolina and northern Europe.

Hundreds of American firefighters and support staff have been working in Canada since May, according to US President Joe Biden, who also stated that he has offered Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “any additional help Canada needs to rapidly accelerate the effort to put out these fires.”
