Suicide bombing in Pakistan targets a car transporting foreigners; five Japanese people escape unharmed; two killed

In the latest assault on foreign citizens in Pakistan, five Japanese nationals were fortunate to escape when terrorists attacked their car in a suicide attack on Friday in the Sindh province, according to authorities.

The terrorists on a motorcycle allegedly worked with Pakistan Suzuki Motors and tried to attack the Japanese nationals’ van near Murtaza Chorangi in Landhi, according to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East Azfar Mahesar.

“Everyone, the five Japanese, was safe. The private security officer who was accompanying them, however, was hurt, he claimed.

He stated, “The Japanese nationals were traveling from their home in Zamzama, Clifton, to the Export Processing Zone.”

When the terrorists attempted to attack the vehicle carrying the Japanese nationals and two security guards, it was reported by Detective Inspector Asif Aijaz Shaikh of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

According to the official, one terrorist was slain by the security officers while another detonated himself to try to approach the vehicle.

DIG Shaikh said, “All five of the Japanese nationals are safe.”

The DIG said that “no one has claimed responsibility so far” and that the automobile transporting the Japanese citizens was bulletproof.

According to Jinnah Hospital authorities, two security officers and a bystander were among the three wounded who were taken to the hospital; two of them were very ill.

The hospital attested that no foreign patient was brought in for care.

According to the authority, the Japanese nationals were employed by Pakistan Suzuki Motors.

The biggest metropolis in Pakistan, Karachi also serves as the provincial capital of Sindh in the south.

Sharjeel Inam Memon, the minister of transport for Sindh, vehemently denounced the assault.

Memon said, “The police’s prompt action has thwarted the terrorists’ ambitions.”

“We will not allow the terrorists’ nefarious actions to succeed,” he continued.

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has ordered a report on the situation and denounced the suicide attack.

The governor said, “Terrorism will not be tolerated in the city under any circumstances.”

He requested that the police investigate the incident’s motivations and identify the masterminds.

Attacks by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and small separatist organizations against Chinese nationals engaged on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which consists of several megaprojects including agricultural, power plants, and road building, have increased recently.

Five Chinese people and their Pakistani driver perished last month when a suicide bomber in northwest Pakistan crashed his car packed with explosives into a car they were driving to work at the largest hydropower project in Pakistan, the Dasu Dam.

Nonetheless, there haven’t been any assaults of this kind on Japanese employees in Pakistan.

Insurgents in the volatile region of Balochistan said that they had carried out three terror acts between March 16 and 26, the most of which were directed at Chinese citizens and interests.

The assault on Gwadar port, a crucial component of the CPEC project constructed with Chinese assistance, was claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army, an illegal organization in Balochistan.
