“There is no justification for violence”: US on assaults on Indian students

In response to recent assaults on Indian students in the US, the White House said that violence against anyone on the basis of their ethnicity, gender, or any other characteristic is unacceptable in the US and that there is no justification for it.

John Kirby, the National Security Council’s Coordinator for Strategic Communications, said during a press briefing on Thursday (local time) that US President Joe Biden and his administration have been making a lot of effort to try to thwart and disrupt these kinds of attacks.

There’s no justification for violence, especially when it’s motivated by a person’s color, gender, religion, or any other element, he stated in answer to a question about recent assaults on Indian students and worries expressed by parents about sending their kids to the US. The President and his administration have been working extremely hard to ensure that we’re doing everything we can to work with state and local authorities to try to thwart and disrupt those kinds of attacks and make it clear to anybody who might consider them that they’ll be held properly accountable. That is simply unacceptable here in the United States.”
