Treasonous conspiracy against PM: HC

Delhi, New: The Delhi High Court ruled on Wednesday that the PM conspiracy amounted to treason and that it is irresponsible to accuse someone of such a severe crime in the absence of credible evidence.

The BJD MP Pinaki Misra filed a complaint against attorney Jai Anant Dehadrai in court, requesting an injunction to stop him from making “false and defamatory” remarks and tweets.

Dehadrai had claimed that Misra had plotted against the PM alongside TMC MP Mahua Moitra, who had been expelled.

Judge Jasmeet Singh made the following oral observation when pulling up Dehadrai: “It is troubling when you imply a plot against the PM. It’s impossible to be trigger happy. Treason is the crime of conspiracy against the prime minister. It affects the public in a significant way.

The court ruled that Dehadrai needed to hold off on making such claims until after his complaint to the authorities had been resolved. According to the court, “the accusation of conspiring against the PM cannot be made carelessly and needs to be based on cogent and substantive reasons.”

Dehadrai and his attorney promised the court that he would hold off on speaking about Misra “conspiring” against the PM until the next hearing date. tnn
