X Pays Parag Agrawal and Team $1.1M in Legal Fees

Following their legal battle with Elon Musk’s company, X Corp., Parag Agrawal and a number of other former Twitter executives have been awarded $1.1 million in legal fees. Delaware Chancery Court Judge Kathaleen St. J. McCormick determined that Twitter had failed to fulfill its obligation to pay the legal costs incurred during their time at the company.

This legal struggle was started by Parag Agrawal. Along with former senior policy officer Vijaya Gadde and other employees, he served as Twitter’s CEO at the time. Due to $1 million in unpaid legal expenses, they brought the action in April.

In essence, the court has ruled that X Corp, previously Twitter, is now required to pay the $1.1 million in legal expenses that these former senior executives have accrued. They said that by failing to pay for these costs despite their relation to inquiries into the platform’s operations, Twitter was in breach of its own rules.

This conflict started when Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion, which caused these executives to resign. In addition, Musk has been the target of a number of court cases for not paying rent and other expenses to Twitter providers.

X Corp has so far paid around $600,000 of the debt, but has deducted $1,158,427 in costs for the former senior managers’ legal counsel amid a congressional investigation into the influence of social media on U.S. elections.

As part of this investigation, Vijaya Gadde was required to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Reform.

According to a different Bloomberg article, Judge McCormick’s decision was based on the recognition that although $1.1 million is a sizable figure, it is not an exorbitant one. In the end, this legal dispute was in favor of the former Twitter executives.
