Earthquake of Magnitude 4.2 Rocks Bay of Bengal

New Delhi: An earthquake with a Richter scale value of 4.2 just occurred in the Bay of Bengal area. The event was verified by the National Center for Seismology (NCS), which said that the earthquake occurred on February 29 at exactly 11:23:26 Indian Standard Time (IST).

 

The National Center for Seismology’s official account, @NCS_Earthquake, concisely summarizes the key information about the seismic event in an official post on X.

The tweet reads, “On February 29, 2024, at 11:23:26 IST, there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2. It occurred in the Bay of Bengal region, at latitude 8.04 and longitude 89.65, depth of 90 km. The epicenter of the earthquake was 90 kilometers deep and was found at coordinates Lat: 8.04 and Long: 89.65, according to NCS.
