According to legend, Goddess Parvati was hidden from her father, who wanted her to wed Lord Vishnu, by a close friend and carried to a forested area. The commencement of Hartalika Teej 2023 is scheduled on September 17 at 11:08 AM, according to a priest named Subham Tiwari. and will run till September 18 at 12:39 PM. The udya tithi dictates that the fast be observed on September 18th.

The best time to do the puja is in the morning, but if that is not feasible, Pradosh time, or between 07:18 to 09:38 PM, is also seen to be lucky. Early in the morning, worshippers should take a bath, dress in clean clothing, and then do the puja.

For the puja to be performed and the fast to be observed, there are certain guidelines that must be followed.
