How do you haleem
The world wants to keep you here so that you may experience haleem, if you feel like you are trapped in Hyderabad for the next few days for whatever reason (your visa was denied, your onsite has been postponed indefinitely, or life isn’t moving much).
I usually respond to inquiries about the greatest place to acquire haleem by asking, “What is the meaning of life?” This way, we are both addressing equally difficult topics.
If you’re new to the area, the haleem next to you is the finest; if you’ve been here for a long, take me to your favorite spot, and I’ll let you know whether it’s on par with the best I’ve ever had.
But to be honest, after living in Hyderabad for 15 years, most of the haleem establishments are the greatest of all time (pun intended), as it’s difficult to go wrong with a dish that takes eight hours to prepare and the chef is fasting. According to what I’ve learned about science on YouTube, the brain functions more efficiently during a fast, so perhaps this explains why haleem never disappoints.
The debates around haleem are unique, even if the plant itself remains remarkably same from year to year.
Like my landlord, he would constantly be moaning about how, after ruthlessly raising my rent by 10%, a plate of haleem cost him more than it did the previous year.
The next person says that haleem was superior a few years back. This man will sell his land and invest in your time machine, I promise you of that.
However, the man who wants to go haleem hopping is the perfect person to hang out with this season. He is aware of the route, the best times to eat haleem, and the sequence in which to do so. He also has a plan for dessert. Make this person your best friend if he is already your buddy, and if he is already your best friend, try to get him into your family.
It’s impossible to put into words how one feels during the haleem season, but if you’ve ever seen your favorite comedy characters respond to the first snowfall, that’s how we Hyderabadis feel, although without the snow and just as happy.
