JNU Violence: Left Wing and ABVP Fight Over Election Committee, Injuring Students

A brawl between members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Left-backed organizations (JNUSU) broke out at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi, injuring many students. Conflicts over the election committee’s choices at the School of Languages started the event, which became violent on Thursday night and sent many students to the hospital, according to university authorities.

A guy attacking kids with a stick and another person hurling a bicycle among tumultuous events were shown in many videos that went viral on social media. Other footage showed people being attacked and swarmed while campus security guards tried to break things up. School sources told PTI that the wounded pupils were taken to Safdarjung Hospital.

JNUSU accuses the ABVP of planning an assault just after the student general body assembly and of trying to sabotage JNUSU’s impact by manipulating the election process. On the other hand, the ABVP asserts that the attack was started by JNUSU members who lean left.

Following the altercation, students from the Left group and the ABVP filed police charges against one another. The precise number of wounded students is yet unknown, and the university administration has not yet responded immediately.

The management of JNU is dedicated to bringing harmony back to campus. According to PTI, Vice-Chancellor Santishree D. Pandit promised that anyone responsible will face harsh consequences regardless of their political affiliations. As the conflict took place on university property, actions are being taken to resolve the issue and guarantee that the campus atmosphere returns to normal.
