The four-day cultural event at Amritsar’s Guru Nanak Dev University begins

Here today was the start of the four-day interdepartmental cultural festival of Guru Nanak Dev University, called Jashan-2024. The festival, which ends on April 11, features student artists from 40 different university departments.

The principal guest, Major General Mukesh Sharma, GOC, 15 Infantry Division, Amritsar Cantonment, lit the ceremonial lamp to start the celebration.

Major General Sharma said in his speech that engaging in cultural and creative endeavors has a variety of useful effects. Engaging in these kinds of activities helps pupils grow in confidence and enthusiasm. Students who participate in these activities develop a feeling of responsibility and teamwork.

The Dasmesh Auditorium hosted bhangra, geet-ghazal, and folk song contests on the first day. There were contests for western voice, shabd/bhajan, instrumental (percussion), and instrumental (non-percussion).

There will be contests in the following areas tomorrow: mehndi, flower arranging, cartooning, rangoli, poster-making, nautanki, skit, quiz, debate, and clay modeling.
